Most people donāt think about air quality when it comes to lipedema, but honestly, we should.
Years ago I got really into seriously collecting houseplants (I have over 60 š
) and I noticed something interesting my whole household was getting sick less often!
And there is science behind this: The NASA Clean Air Study found that certain plants can remove toxins from the air (in controlled environments).
Because air pollution isnāt just something āout thereā
itās also inside your home:
* cleaning products
* fragrances like candles/air-freshener
* mould
* poor airflow
Did you know that the World Health Organization estimates that 99% of the worldās population breathes air that exceeds safe limits because air pollution has increased over time with modern living and urbanisation.
Now hereās where this matters for lipedema:
While we donāt have direct studies (yet) linking air pollution to lipedema, we still have strong research showing pollution:
* increases inflammation
* disrupts the immune system
* affects fat tissue
* impacts vascular health
And these exact systems involved in lipedema, so while no this is not the āroot causeā of lipedema, it can absolutely add to the load your body is already dealing with daily.
So get yourself a few house plants: spider plants or even snake plants are great.
Open windows daily to get rid of stale air and mould.
Stop using candles, air fresheners and fly sprays.
If you are in an office job - go outside for some fresh air daily.
All these little things do add up to improve our health and Lipedema care is not just about food, training and hormones.
