Your dedication ensures that every room, every surface, and every corner of our hospital is kept to the highest standards of cleanliness and care. In a place where new life begins and families grow, your work is not just appreciated - it is essential.

A special shout-out to our amazing main cleaners - Nele, who’s with us Monday to Saturday, and Suzy, Monday to Friday.

Thank you for creating a safe, welcoming, and hygienic environment for our Māmā (mothers), pēpē (babies), whānau, and staff. Your attention to detail, tireless effort, and quiet care behind the scenes make all the difference every single day.

🎀 Breast Cancer Awareness Month reminds us that awareness starts early.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, new mothers are already noticing changes in their breasts every day. This is the perfect time to build a lifelong habit: “know your normal.”

Keep checking in with your body beyond the breastfeeding years, and if something doesn’t feel right, seek advice early - early detection saves lives.

Please join us in congratulating Karen Below (KB) – our Manahautū Ora / Senior Cultural Advisor – who has stepped into the role of Acting General Manager at Birthcare Auckland! 🎉

With whakapapa to Te Arawa | Ngāti Whakaue | Ngāti Rangiwewehi, KB brings powerful leadership grounded in tikanga Māori, deep clinical expertise, and a lifelong commitment to whānau-centred, culturally safe care.

Her mahi at Evolution Healthcare has already helped shape Te Korowai Oranga, our cultural strategy that ensures care honours the beliefs, practices, and values of all communities. Now, in her new role at Birthcare, KB will continue to weave these principles into everyday practice – empowering our kaimahi and uplifting the experience of every hapū māmā and pēpi who come through our doors.

A clinical specialist in Occupational Therapy, Traumatic Brain Injuries, and Rongoā Māori, KB's leadership is a true reflection of manaakitanga, mātauranga, and mana.
