Shingles (Shingrix) vaccine is free for 12 months when you turn 65 and is available now in store at ibuy pharmacy.

Shingles (or herpes zoster) is a painful rash affecting a particular nerve. It is a long-term effect of chickenpox that can occur many years after a person has recovered from the initial disease. It can affect anyone who has previously had chickenpox, and is more common in older people.

Shingles usually lasts 10 to 15 days but can cause scarring and loss of vision if it affects the eyes.

One of the most serious complications, particularly among older people, is nerve pain that lasts long after the rash has disappeared.

This includes:

• Minor eye inflammation and infections
• Minor skin infections
• Eczema or dermatitis
• Scabies
• Headlice - nits, kutis, kutu bugs, utu or riha.

Eligible patients can get a FREE consultation with one of our skilled friendly pharmacists, and you can even get the medicines for FREE!

At ibuy pharmacy we are doing more for the local community to make life easier this winter!

People eligible for this service:
• Children under 14 years of age
• Whānau members (any age) of a child under 14 years of age, with the same symptoms
• Community Service Card (CSC) holders
• Māori and Pacific people

Starting from tomorrow, 1st July 2023 the standard $5 charge to collect prescription items from ibuy pharmacy no longer applies.

You may still have to pay to collect some other prescription items, for example:

prescriptions from private specialists and private dentists
items that are not fully funded

We will be running the ear micro suction clinic, and we will available for advice, vaccinations and dispensing prescriptions.
