Base of soaked chia seeds topped with coconut yogurt, slivers of fresh coconut, almonds soaked overnight and rinsed and chopped dried figs, fresh fruit & calendula petals. The omegas in the chia balances the fructose in the fruit. As does the protien in the nuts & the fat in the coconut 🥥

I have a question for you. Does anyone actually do this? Have their peppermint tea with sugar? Having been involved in the health & wellness arena for 19yrs now I just sort of assume that most people would understand that anyone ordering a peppermint tea is unlikely to add sugar to it? Or is that just me? Do others put sugar in their herbal teas? Currently recovering from a back operation and being served this option has me wondering... so I’d love to know if its something you enjoy.

Hello Free Spirited People, Finally I'm putting the Chakra Rhythms back to life. This is a 10 week programme with the first 2 weeks introductory, followed by 7 weeks working on each chakra, with the final 10th session starting with a cacao ceremony and ending with meditation. Food rainbows are fun...oh and rather delicious 😋

Home grown lettuce & baby silver beet (let your silver beet go to seed, you get masses of tender baby leaves up the stem & seeds for next year), douse with olive oil & fresh squeezed lemon juice then add chopped tomato, turmeric slivers (use vege peeler), sour kraut (great tang & fab for gut health), avocado(FULL o dem good oils), falafel & hummus (both good vege protein) Nom Nom - Health in a bowl ❤️

Remember to take time out when you eat wherever you are. Take a couple of deep breaths before you start, connect with your food, be grateful for its nourishment, chew slowly and most of all enjoy 😊

Been juicing a lot of parsley lately as part of a heavy metal detox & my delightful friend Gillian Chamberlain suggested making parsley pesto from the juicing remains. Yum!!

Parsley Pesto - a bunch of parsley, as it is or post juicing - cashew nuts, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, cracked pepper & a little salt in the mini blitzer. Easy as.

Enjoyed with pumpkin soup made with chicken bone broth & on paleo toast with tomato on top 😋

Tasty Healthy Lunch....or Dinner....

Happy happy day, this was just so yummo I had to share it with you.

Salad base of silverbeet (from the garden, it grows all winter, even in Taupo ) white & red cabbage - finely chop all three & add a sprinkle of capers for taste.

Top with red capsicum, cherry tomato, lentil hummus, herb spread (very nutritional & tasty too), falafel,& pan fried haloumi strips.

Make it vegan with more falafal & no haloumi - easy as.
I cook up a bunch of falafal at a time & leave them in the fridge - for easy access to a quick lunch or dinner.

NZer's - Turkish Kitchens hummus, dips & falafal mix are preservative free - so no sulphites (220, 202). So many people are affected by sulphites, many without realising it. Sulphites are in most preprepared foods so you can consume a lot of them without realising and the best way to create an intolerance to something is to over consume it. Based on that wee nugget of truth, sulphites are just better out where ever possible.

Fresh ginger ‘tea’ for improved digestive function & ease. Ginger is a natural anti-inflammatory for the body in general as well as having a lovely calming action on the digestive tract. This makes it a great digestive tonic for everybody and beneficial for those experiencing diverticulitis, crohns,IBS, ulcers & any other inflammatory condition effecting the gut.

Simply slice some fresh ginger & steep in boiling water. I often drink mine cold, especially in summer when a cold drink is preferable 🥤

You can also use the same ginger slices several times so don’t throw them out after just one round of boiling water. Leave them in the cup and use them again 😉

A well balanced, warming & nutritional start to a cold winters day.

Millet porridge with sultanas. I like to hide chopped fruit in the bottom of the bowl for a wee surprise. In this case kiwi fruit. Top with a dollop of coconut yoghurt & a sprinkle of chopped Brazil nuts for crunch & selenium.

Millet is a gluten free higher protein grain. Cook with sultanas to add sweetness. Kiwi fruit 🥝 for immune boosting Vit C & fibre, coconut yoghurt for healthy dairy free fat & 3 brazil nuts for your daily dose of selenium. NZ soils are deficient in selenium so NZers this is important for you especially.
