💯😉. We can’t stop and won’t stop sending out this message until every person in the world knows:
💥There are solutions for p*eing every time you jump, run, cough, laugh, or sneeze; and solutions for those who leak some when they can’t get to the toilet on time! There is also SO much help for painful s*x and you don’t have to just grin and bear it!
🎉 Leaking: There are some easy tips to try on your own first such a doing kegels (pelvic floor exercises), reducing number of times you go to the bathroom “just in case,” and online programs.
🎉PELVIC PHYSICAL THERAPY works for this! YES, It’s a thing! (Also can be called pelvic physiotherapy, women’s health physical therapy, and some OTs do it too!) is a game changer for so many who have this issue. In fact- 75-93% success rate (depending on study). There are also fitness pros who specialize in this. We provide a full individualized plan to help you stop leaking. We have a huge global directory at PelvicGuru.com to help you locate a professional. We still see mommas saying “I’ll just live with it” or athletes laughing it off saying “yep, I still p*e a little when I run.” This can go away!
🎉Pessaries during activity. Many people don’t know this is a viable option during exercise. You can get basic over the counter ones - Impressa- or get fitted for a silicone medical grade one by a
🎉Urogynecology consult. Urogynecologists also specialize in prolapse and leaking (much more than urologists and GYNs).
🎉Painful s*x. Many underlying causes for those with female parts. (And those with male parts also suffer with this!). It can be hormonal, trauma-related, changes at the tissue or hypersensitivity at the vulva/va**na, pelvic floor muscle dysfunction to name a few. A professional who specializes in pelvic pain/painful s*x/s*xual dysfunction can help. Pelvic PTs, specialized MDs or ARNPs, and s*x therapists are good choices and can work together too. Most of my patients who finally got help said things like “This was life changing. I wish I would have done this sooner. I thought I was all alone.”
So, spread this message! Repost. There’s help for leaking and painful s*x. Boom!

‪ ...and Pelvic Physical Therapists talk about s*x, p**p, and p*e!! (And so much more). 👏🎉
It’s National Physical Therapy Month. Let’s celebrate all physical therapists and a special shout out to those PTs who talk about s*x, p**p, and p*e.

P.S. In an ideal world ALL therapists would ask patients about these subjects. It’s not taboo. They are life functions. 😉‬

Great advice on supporting new moms

So glad to see that more articles are featuring information about new , , and . At the same time, it’s important for us to make sure women who are pregnant or who’ve given birth are feeling supported and not getting fear-based messages / headlines.
What if a woman is ready to do higher level exercise before 6 months and has no leaking or symptoms of prolapse? Some are.
Or what if a woman is reading this after she’s been jogging since 3 months post-childbirth? Will she think she’s possibly created “severe pelvic organ prolapse?” What if a woman needs a full year or more to heal? .
In an ideal world women are supported through pregnancy (and before) and after [pretty much always 😉] with best info, a village of others who can help, and individual assessments by pelvic physical therapists or women’s health specialized fitness pros. Wouldn’t that be great!?
A larger prolapse DOES NOT mean a woman did anything wrong or could have prevented that. There are so many factors in terms of connective tissue /genetics, type of birth, length of labor, bowel considerations, and more.. I hear so many women say, “I knew I shouldn’t have lifted like that” or “jogged that one time and now I’m ruined.” I wish women didn’t blame themselves so much!
On the flip side, we do know that there are factors that make a woman more likely to have an increase in pressure with less pelvic floor support that may make her more prone to prolapse or making it worse over time - factors such as change of size of the opening of the va**na plus levator ani avulsion tear or labor with forceps and extent of prolapse after. There’s a way to assess all of this and make sure there’s an individualized plan. .
Women should seek out Urogynecologists, pelvic physical therapists, and women’s health fitness pros who understand how to assess for these changes based on their respective scopes of practice. .
Much love 💗💗

Great post highlighting how important bowel health is for pelvic health conditions. Getting your bowel right can make recovery and management quicker.

Cute, right!? Bowel health is important, y’all! 😉💩 .
Did you know that almost every type of pelvic health condition is worsened by (or caused by) bowel issues.

Examples - will negatively affect pelvic organ prolapse, urinary urge, pelvic/abdominal pain, urinary or bowel leakage, low back pain / SI pain, and more!

So many people go years not realizing that this was a large reason why pelvic floor/pelvic health symptoms didn’t improve. One of the leading reasons for for kids is constipation. Even if you go to the bathroom daily, you may still be constipated - not fully emptying, straining, only seeing pellets, etc.

We also don’t talk about falls and hip fractures due to bowel urgency. That’s a major issue too.
