2025 has been a year of reflection for carers. Tighter funding and fewer chances to take a break have not been easy, yet your resilience and commitment have truly shone 🌟
▫️
This year we held 24 workshops, creating spaces for connection, learning, and empowerment, and we are excited to keep the momentum going. A huge thank you to our team and SAMS for amplifying Care Matters across Aotearoa, and to everyone who attended our workshops and used our resources 👏
▫️
Looking ahead, 2026 brings hope. From 1 April, carers will have new ways to think about and use their funding, and Care Matters will be alongside whānau every step of the way 👣
▫️
Please take time to rest, recharge, and enjoy the moments that fill your cup. Your mahi and heart have been incredible 🤍

Last month we wrapped up our final workshop of the year. The Manawatū Enabling Good Lives Family Core Group joined us for a rich session to learn about future planning, youth resources, wellbeing, sector updates, EGL and more 👩‍🏫
▫️
Hearing that people walked away with new resources, practical strategies and meaningful connections is exactly why we host these workshops. Our mission is to empower carers across Aotearoa to live the best life for themselves and their whānau ✨
▫️
We’re already excited about the workshops and resources we’ll be bringing in 2026. If you’d like a tailored workshop in your area, reach out to tina@carematters.org.nz 💻

Care Matters NZ

The National Carer Learning and Wellbeing Resource Service has four core objectives. These are to:

  • Enhance the health and wellbeing of carers, family/whanau and disabled people through the provision of current, relevant, consistent and accessible learning information

  • Strengthen carer knowledge and understanding on a wide range of topics and support its application

  • Enhance the relationship between carers and the disabled people they care for
