The unconscious mind doesn’t speak in words — it speaks in images.

In a session recently, I asked a client to connect with what courage looked like for her.
She paused, looked a little confused, then said quietly, “Flowers.”

We talked for a moment — and it was perfect.
Flowers are incredibly courageous.
Every winter they die back, and every spring, they return.
They trust the process, without question.

That’s the beauty of the unconscious mind.
It already knows what we need — if we just listen.

Every behaviour begins with a positive intention.
Even when actions seem unhelpful, they often start as attempts to protect, soothe or create control.

Like a flickering lamp, the light is still trying to shine — it just needs a little rewiring.
When you recognise the intention, you can update the strategy.

More than 6 months after leaving the Maldives Denzel has finally become a Kiwi. We assume he is the first Maldivian cat to emigrate to NZ. Thank you to all those who helped his journey not least the family who fostered him in London for 6 months. He has still never experienced grass so that adventure is still to come

When we look at people through the lens of judgement, we miss what’s underneath.
Every action is shaped by the resources available in that moment — energy, confidence, support, safety.

Compassion doesn’t excuse behaviour; it understands it.
And understanding is what allows growth.
