It took me years to get fit but it started with ballet lessons and now today I still go along to classes to listen to other coaches because technique is the base of success in sport and fitness. If you’re new to using a punching bag then just start with the jab. A straight punch to the face with your weaker arm. Turn your left toe in slightly as you land your foot step forward with your left foot as you punch with your left hand. Keep even pressure on your feet and dance from the back foot to the front foot lightly so you’re always ready. Here’s a little combo we did the other night

Boxing and self defense classes for girls is a step towards a safer world for everyone I believe. I’ve never been a fan of violence but as a mixed race Eurasian brought up in a mixed religious Christian Buddhist family I found learning self defence as a way to grow my own confidence and push my boys to be courageous in their daily life. Peaceful people have boundaries and knowing self defense gives peaceful people the ability to enforce their boundaries. I was in Vietnam in 1975 with my parents and it’s so sad to see the similar suffering in Afghanistan now. It is possible for once enemies to love each other and for their children to be safe happy and successful because my parents proved it through me. Let’s make self defense classes accessible to all school aged children so they can defend their homes and quality if life.

Try this simple filling dinner.

Chicken Breast
0.5 medium breast (yield after cooking, bone removed). Pan fry.

Cooked Pumpkin (from Fresh, Fat Not Added in Cooking). Boil.
1 serving (122g)

Baby Spinach
1 serving (30g). Warmed / steamed in a little water

A quick and easy soup dinner

Cauliflower
1 cup

Onions
1 cup, chopped

Sea Salt
0.5 tsp

Tap Water
2 cup

Olive Oil
1 tablespoon

Toasted English Muffin
1 muffin

Approx 346 calories. Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a boil and then simmer for 15 minutes. Puree with a stick blender and enjoy.
