*URGENT APPEAL*
Angau Cancer Clinic, Lae, Morobe Province, is appealing to the public to return the wheelchairs donated by Harmony Gold Mine.
The wheelchairs, which have the Harmony Gold Mine logo on them, were donated to support cancer patients in need. However, it has come to our attention that some of these wheelchairs are being used for personal purposes and have been removed from the hospital.
We kindly request that anyone in possession of these wheelchairs to please return them to our clinic. Your cooperation will help ensure that those who truly need them can benefit from this generous donation.
Let us work together to support our cancer patients!

Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Angau Cancer Clinic

💖 Taking Responsibility for Your Own Health: Buakap Leads the Way!

Last weekend, we concluded our Pinktober awareness programs with a fantastic turnout in Buakap village (an initiative proudly supported by the Evangelical Lutheran Church). We spoke to over 300 men and women about the early signs of mouth, breast, and cervical cancer.

Our key message was clear: Early Detection and Prevention! We provided detailed referral pathways to Angau Hospital for Pap smear tests and breast examinations.

The result? This morning, nearly 20 women from Buakap village demonstrated true health ownership by making the 45-minute dinghy trip to Lae to get screened for breast cancer! 👏

This is the vital change we need to see more in our communities. Cancer can be prevented and cured if we all take action together.

🔑 KEY MESSAGE: Take responsibility for your own health! Get screened today.

K92 Mining Employees Continue Their Kind Support to Cancer Patients

Date: 30th October 2025

Since 2019, the dedicated employees of K92 Mining Limited have been donating toiletries and essential items to cancer patients at Angau Memorial Provincial Hospital every October in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The initiative, started by the staff themselves, is part of their way of giving back to the community. Each year, they raise funds from their own pockets, visit the Cancer Ward to present their donations, and carry out breast cancer awareness and screening within the mining site and nearby communities.

This year, the team once again visited Angau Cancer Ward with their donations. The Officer in Charge, Ms. Julie Cecil, thanked them for their continued compassion and support to patients bravely fighting cancer.

🙏 Thank you, K92 Mining family, for your generosity and for spreading hope and awareness across Papua New Guinea! 🎗️

First Palliative Care Workshop Successfully Completed

The first-ever Palliative Care Workshop has been successfully completed at the Lae International Hotel, Morobe Province. The workshop was organized and coordinated by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), in collaboration with the Morobe Provincial Health Authority (MPHA). Participants included medical and nursing staff from various departments within the MPHA.

This important training marks a significant step forward in strengthening Cancer Care and Management in the province. The MSF team, currently based in Morobe, has been working in partnership with the Provincial Health Authority to support the National Cancer Services PNG at Angau Memorial Provincial Hospital. Their focus includes cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment, and patient follow-up care.

In addition to providing direct clinical support, MSF is actively involved in capacity building, offering technical training and mentoring to local healthcare professionals. This helps enhance the skills and knowledge of staff involved in cancer management, ensuring sustainable improvements in patient care.

The Palliative Care Workshop specifically focused on the management of cancer patients requiring palliative support — an essential but often overlooked aspect of comprehensive cancer care. Palliative care aims to improve the quality of life for patients and their families by addressing pain relief, symptom management, emotional support, and dignified end-of-life care.

By equipping local healthcare workers with the necessary skills and understanding of palliative care principles, the workshop contributes to a more compassionate and holistic approach to cancer management at Angau Memorial Provincial Hospital and throughout the Morobe Province.
