Enga Hosts Immunization Training for Frontline Health Workers...............................................................................................................................

A weeklong immunization training program for frontline health workers was officially launched on 16 December at the New Enga Provincial Hospital site. Facilitated by the National Department of Health with support from the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), the program aims to enhance the capacity of health workers to deliver vital immunization services across the province, thereby reducing the rates of mortality and morbidity of children under five years.
Under the “Accelerated Immunization and Health System Strengthening” (AIHSS) project, for which Enga PHA is a beneficiary, this training aims to increase reach to underserved communities, improve data analysis and reporting, and upskilling of health workers to plan and deliver immunization activities.
While opening the training, acting CEO of Enga PHA Mr. Ben Nema highlighted the significance of the training for both the health workers and the people of Enga.
“Our number one client are the patients and the people of Enga. As employees of Enga PHA, it is our duty to be committed and dedicated to serving them with care and excellence,” he said. Mr Nema also thanked the partners for coming to Wabag to run the training, despite what has been aired about Enga in the mainstream and social media.
Director Public Health Dr. Betty Koka also emphasized that immunization is the cornerstone of preventive healthcare.
“Immunization protects lives and prevents diseases. This training empowers our frontline workers to reach every corner of Enga with effective vaccination services,” Dr. Koka said.
The training program reflects a collaborative effort of the National Department of Health, CHAI, and the Enga PHA to strengthen the province's healthcare system. It features a commitment to improving access to essential health services and ensuring a healthier future for the people of Enga Province.
The workshop will conclude with practical exercises and discussions on tailored strategies for overcoming logistical challenges in vaccination campaigns, especially in Enga's rugged terrain.
