Ang echolalia ay isang likas at karaniwang paraan ng komunikasyon para sa maraming batang may autism. Madalas itong gamitin upang mag proseso sa kakayahang pananalita o wika, ipahayag ang pangangailangan, o magbigay ng katiyakan sa sarili kapag sila ay nabibigla o nahihirapan. Mahalagang tandaan na hindi layunin ng interbensyon na ‘alisin’ ang echolalia, dahil bahagi ito ng paraan para matuto at pagpapahayag ng maraming batang neurodivergent.

Sa halip, ang layunin ng sumusunod na rekomendasyon ay tulungan ang mga magulang na gabayan ang kanilang anak tungo sa mas functional, mas malinaw, at mas nagagamit na paraan ng komunikasyon, habang iginagalang ang natural na paraan ng kanilang pag-unawa at pagproseso ng wika. Nakatuon ito sa paglikha ng suporta, predictability, at mga modelo ng tamang sagot na makatutulong sa bata na unti-unting matuto ng mas maging independent at malinaw na komunikasyon—nang hindi binabawasan ang kanilang identity bilang bata na nasa spectrum.
