God's word and thought for our soul
Obey Acts 2:38
The KJV verse that mentions "Apostles' Doctrine" is Acts 2:42: "And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers."

Sunday Preach

The Dangers of Disobedience
Key Verse: Deuteronomy 28:15

Last week we reflected on The Blessings of Obedience (Deuteronomy 28:2), where God promises that blessings will overtake those who listen to His voice. Yet Scripture also reminds us that disobedience carries consequences.

Disobedience to God can lead to physical, spiritual, and emotional suffering, and it hardens the heart, making it difficult to recognize our own faults.

God has already laid out a path for us—His instruction is clear: do not go astray.

Even if we strive and do our best in life, if we are not connected to God, everything will ultimately be in vain.

Let us remain sensitive to His voice and always pray:
“Lord, correct me.”

Obedience leads to blessing.
Disobedience leads to curse.
The path is already set
the choice is ours.

𝗜𝗳 𝘆ou 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲…

It does not belong to doubters.

It belongs to people who believe God.

Faith moves forward even when circumstances look impossible.

For Hebrews 11:6 says without faith it is impossible to please Him.

“The future belongs to people who believe God.”

Believe Him and step forward.

Sometimes life takes things away.

Positions may change. Applause may fade. Status may disappear. Some people only walk with you while everything is going well — and when the season changes, they quietly move on.

If necessary, let those things go.

But there is one thing you must never allow yourself to lose: the presence of Jesus.

Because when Christ’s presence remains, nothing is truly lost. Money may come and go. Recognition may be uncertain. Opportunities may open slowly. Yet when Jesus is near, there is still life, direction, and hope.

The Bible shows us people who went through difficult seasons but held firmly to God’s presence.

David lost his throne for a time and lived in hiding, yet his greatest prayer was not for power, but for God’s presence:

“Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me.”
— Psalm 51:11

Moses also understood this truth. When God promised to send an angel ahead of Israel, Moses answered with these words:

“If Your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.”
— Exodus 33:15

They understood something powerful: without God’s presence, even the promised land can feel empty.

But with God’s presence, even the desert becomes a place of miracles.

The world teaches people to chase visibility.

Heaven teaches us to pursue intimacy with God.

Positions change. Status fades. Recognition shifts.

But the presence of Jesus is something the world cannot give — and cannot take away.

So if life ever places difficult choices before you, remember this:

You may lose many things along the journey.

But never trade away the presence of Christ.

Because anyone who walks with Jesus may pass through valleys…

but they never walk alone.

Many people ask, “Why was Barabbas set free?”
Barabbas was a criminal, a rebel, a guilty man. Yet the crowd chose to release him while Jesus, the innocent one, was crucified.
But the deeper truth of the story is this:
Barabbas represents all of us.
We are the ones who deserved the punishment because of our sins. We are the ones who failed, who fell short, who made mistakes. Yet instead of us receiving the punishment, Jesus took our place.
On that day, Barabbas walked out of prison free… not because he was innocent, but because someone else was willing to die in his place.
That is the picture of the Gospel.
Jesus carried the cross that should have been ours.
He took the suffering that belonged to us.
He paid the price we could never pay.
Because of His sacrifice, we are given something we never deserved—grace, mercy, and forgiveness.
So when we read the story of Barabbas, we should remember this:
We are Barabbas.
We were the guilty ones set free because Jesus chose the cross.
And that is how great His love is.
“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
— Romans 5:8
