MESSAGE FOR LEIZEL BIHAG WHO'S BABY HAS G6PD DEFICIENCY:
Hi, Leizel! Thanks for your inquiry & for liking my page :)
To answer your question on what vitamins could a G6PB baby take, studies show that vitamin and mineral supplements are safe for G6PD deficient persons. There is no substantiation for concerns about vitamin C in normal or high doses (within the general safety guidelines) for G6PD deficient persons. There is no known reason for concern about the usual supplemental forms of vitamin K for G6PD deficient persons. There is substantial evidence that vitamin E supplements of 400 to 800 IU may be
somewhat helpful for those with G6PD deficiency. But of course it's still best to consult your baby's doctor about this, before deciding which vitamins to buy.
By the way, below you'll find helpful guidelines for your G6PD baby. This is an official list posted by the Newborn Screening Reference Center- NIH, Manila, Philippines.
