Boosted na ba ang immune system ng lahat?☺️
What’s the real secret to living better for longer? According to the oldest person on earth: meaningful connections with the people you love, and spending time with them *in person.*
Research backs it up. A study from Elsevier found that meeting friends in person improved the functioning of the immune system through a gene called CTRA, which is tied to the regulation of antiviral responses and antibody production. Such benefits, however, didn’t materialize for those who only interacted with their friends online. Texting and calling? Not nearly as impactful.
Yes, you should honor your social battery. But remember, humans are wired for connection. In-person community lowers our risk of heart disease, stroke, Type 2 diabetes, Alzheimer’s, cancer, and can even strengthen immunity. Making time for connection isn’t just emotional. It’s the key to longevity.
