Official Statement on Preparedness and Response to Tropical Cyclone Opong🌀

In light of Tropical Cyclone Opong, the Municipality of Mambusao stands united and fully mobilized to ensure the safety and welfare of our constituents. Under the leadership of our Honorable Mayor Jun Labao Jr., and in close coordination with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) headed by Sir John Paul Lusabia, all concerned agencies have activated their respective contingency plans and are working in synergy to mitigate the impact of the cyclone.

✅ Preparedness Measures:

• Pre-positioning of emergency supplies and equipment in strategic locations.
• Activation of evacuation centers with adequate provisions and health protocols.
• Deployment of response teams for rapid assessment and rescue operations.
• Continuous monitoring of weather updates and advisories from PAGASA and other relevant agencies.

🤝 Inter-agency Coordination:

• The MDRRMO is in constant communication with barangay officials, PNP, BFP, DOH, and other frontline units to ensure swift information dissemination and response.
• Local health units are on standby to provide medical assistance and support in evacuation centers.
• The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) is ready to assist displaced families and vulnerable groups.

We had a successful launch of PhilHealth YAKAP (Yamang Kalusugan para sa Pamilya) last September 8, 2025—a milestone that marks our unwavering commitment to inclusive, compassionate, and accessible healthcare for every Filipino.

We would like to thank our very supportive SB on Health, Hon. Catherine Launio for delivering her inspirational message, Maam Verlie Reccio from Philhealth and most especially to our Mayor, Leodegario A. Labao, for all the support.

YAKAP is more than just a program; it is a movement that embraces the vulnerable, uplifts the underserved, and ensures that no one is left behind in their journey toward wellness.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our partners, stakeholders, and the entire PhilHealth community whose dedication and collaboration made this launch possible. Together, we continue to build a healthier, more resilient Philippines—one embrace at a time.

🌿Health Education and Distribution of IEC material about HFMD! 🫲🦶👄🦠

Rural Health Unit (RHU) together with DOH delivered a meaningful Health Education and Hand Washing lecture for our students of Mambusao West Elementary School. This initiative reflects the RHU’s unwavering commitment to promoting wellness and disease prevention among the youth of our municipality.

Led by our passionate Mayor Jun Labao Jr., health professionals especially our Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Rowena L. Gavero and SB on health Hon. Catherine Launio, the lecture emphasized the importance of proper hand hygiene as a simple yet powerful tool in protecting oneself from common illnesses. Through engaging demonstrations and interactive discussions, students gained practical knowledge they can apply every day—at home, in school, and in their communities.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the RHU for spearheading this program and for ensuring that every child receives the health education they deserve. Together, we are building a healthier, more informed generation.

❤️We are proud to share our active participation in the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology’s (BJMP) implementation of the YAKAP Program, thru our Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Rowena L. Gavero and our parter from Philhealth, a transformative initiative aimed at supporting Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) in their journey toward rehabilitation and reintegration.

Through our collaborative efforts, we have contributed to the holistic development of PDLs by facilitating activities that promotes disease prevention. These include medical check-up, TB screening and health education program with free medicines and laboratory aligned with the YAKAP framework. Our team has worked closely with BJMP personnel to ensure that each activity is responsive to the unique needs of the PDLs and fosters a supportive environment for personal growth.

We remain committed to empowering individuals within the correctional system and believe that through compassion, education, and community engagement, we can help pave the way for a more inclusive and rehabilitative justice system.
