The Importance of Proper Venting in Drainage
In plumbing, a drain is only as good as its vent. As shown in our recent diagram, the way you connect your Water Closet (WC) to the ventilation pipe determines whether your bathroom stays fresh or becomes a nightmare.
Why Venting Matters
* Prevents Air Locks: Without a proper vent, water struggles to flow, leading to slow drains.
* Protects the Trap Seal: Proper venting ensures that the water in your P-trap isn't "siphoned" out. If that seal breaks, foul-smelling sewer gases will enter your home.
* Equalizes Pressure: It allows air to follow the water, ensuring a smooth, quiet flush every time.
When installing your WC, always ensure the connection to the ventilation stack is angled correctly to facilitate the natural flow of both waste and air. A green pipe doesn't just look good—it represents a healthy, breathing system!
