This month, we shine a light on ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฟ โ the second most common cancer among Filipino women.
Cervical cancer is primarily caused by persistent ๐๐๐บ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฃ๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ถ๐น๐น๐ผ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ฟ๐๐ (๐๐ฃ๐ฉ) infection and leads to around 12 deaths daily in the Philippines. Many women may experience symptoms such as ๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ป๐ผ๐ฟ๐บ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฎ๐ด๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐น ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป๐ด and ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐น๐๐ถ๐ฐ ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป, but in its early stages, it may not show noticeable signs.
Why does it remain a serious concern? Limited access to ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ด and ๐๐ฃ๐ฉ ๐๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป programs continues to contribute to its prevalence. Early detection through regular screening and protection through HPV vaccination can significantly reduce the risk and save lives.
Letโs empower women with knowledge, promote prevention, and support accessible healthcare for all. ๐
