Planning our year doesn’t mean taking control of everything—because we never were in control to begin with.
God holds the whole picture.
What is in our hands is how intentional we choose to be with what He’s entrusted to us.
Wise planning begins with perspective.
We zoom out—then we zoom in.
We ask ourselves: What is the overarching theme of this year?
And if that’s the theme, what does our everyday life need to look like to support it—our rhythms, our boundaries, our priorities?
Then we pause and ask the question we often avoid because it asks for honesty:
What season of life are we actually in right now?
Not the season we’re praying for.
Not the one we’re comparing ourselves to.
But the one we’re living in today.
Every season has a different pace. There’s wisdom in knowing when to build, when to push, and when to slow down—and simply be faithful with what’s in front of us.
Before we move ahead, we take a moment to reflect on where we’ve been.
What habits from last year brought life?
Which ones quietly drained us?
Growth isn’t just about letting go of what’s unhealthy—it’s about replacing it with practices that support the life we’re asking God for.
As we plan, we don’t limit our vision to productivity and goals.
We plan for relationships.
We plan for rest.
We plan for our inner life.
Because at the end of the year, what matters most isn’t just what we accomplished—but who we became along the way.
Planning wisely is really a balance of surrender and stewardship:
the things we place fully in God’s hands,
and the things we prepare for with faithfulness and care.
