Tuberculosis (TB) is a highly curable disease and treatment is readily available nationwide in public health facilities for FREE. Yet, TB persists as one of the topmost killers among all infectious diseases in the Philippines (WHO 2019).
Two-thirds of all TB globally was attributed to just eight countries with the highest burdens: India, Indonesia, China, the Philippines, Pakistan, Nigeria, Bangladesh and, South Africa.https://apps.who.int/iris/bitstream/handle/10665/342703/9789240027053-eng.pdf
COVID-19 has overshadowed other health programs that have been long-standing and significantly creating impact, especially the national program of the Philippines against Tuberculosis (TB). Help us bring back on track TB awareness.
If you are an individual with active TB but religiously take your medicine, or an individual who had TB and now living TB-free, or an individual who was able to encourage/support/convince a TB patient to seek medical help, please comment to create awareness that you have done your part. There is no shame in having a TB, it is highly curable!
