November 7, 2025 - In anticipation of the onslaught of Super Typhoon Uwan, the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health (DRRM-H) Program of the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) of Isabela, under the guidance of Dr. Nelson O. Paguirigan, Provincial Health Officer II, convened a preparatory meeting to ensure full readiness and coordinated response of IPHO health teams.
The meeting focused on the activation of health response teams who will render duty in strategic areas to provide immediate medical and public health services before, during, and after the typhoon. The IPHO emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration to mitigate the possible province-wide effects of the impending disaster.
As part of the preparedness efforts, IPHO personnel also visited the designated evacuation site, where they inspected the Infirmary and birthing area, conducted cleaning operations, and prepared the necessary commodities and medical supplies. They also set up the facility to ensure that evacuees, especially pregnant women, children, and vulnerable individuals, can be attended to in a safe and sanitary environment.
The IPHO will work hand in hand with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Provincial Safety Office (PSO), and other partner agencies in carrying out their mandated duties. Together, they aim to ensure a well-coordinated and effective disaster response operation for the protection of all Isabeleรฑos.
Through these proactive measures, the Provincial Government of Isabela continues to demonstrate its commitment to health emergency preparedness, ensuring that the province remains resilient and ready in the face of natural calamities.
