Paano ba nakakatulong ang babywearing sa gitna ng trahedya at kalamidad, and what you can use instead temporarily if you cant find your baby carrier sa emergency settings
Ito ay part lang ng live video ko sa IG noong 2020, where I talked about babywearing during the pandemic and disasters
I hope you will find this helpful, esp sa panahon ngayon :)

If there's one person who have seen me transition from a new mom to this day, outside family and friends..
Someone who got my few early morning and late night calls when there's medical emergencies,.
Someone who experienced this different side of me as a mom - the worried, hypervigilant, assuming, "the diagnostician" (because when I call her about something, oftentimes it included the diagnosis that I think my child has😅, before she even checked them out first), and all that..
That would be Kuya and Ading's one and only pediatrician.
A little over a few weeks ago, she told me something that struck my heart,.it was so heartwarming that it felt like a great bookend to the chapter of me raising newborns, infants, toddlers, preschoolers..and a great prologue to the new chapter of my motherhood as a school mom to both kids.
Those lines..the way she described my early motherhood..the sleepless nights era..my beautiful babywearing, breastfeeding days..Was just..
That, for me, was a great affirmation and validation of my early motherhood era..
I will no longer share publicly what she said to me..
i'll just keep those in my heart, but it sure made my heart smile..up to this day..
Thank you, Lord, for being with me in all those early years..
It was God who carried me through it all, and helped me carry our little boys..
And to our Pedia who has been so patient with me since June 2016.. 🤍

If you're going to ask my top1 na recommendation for a newborn, in normal circumstances, ang sagot ko ay stretchy wrap.
Una, may tinatawag tayong one-way stretchy wrap, meron ding 2-way. If 2-way ang gamit ninyo, mas malambot sya, mas manipis, pero mas mabilis niyo lang syang magagamit..depende sa pagkanipis o pagkakapal, but usually nasa 9months sya..(lean babies ha)..but if one way, pwedeng beyond that age range.
This particular photo, gumamit ako ng one-way stretchy wrap at nagamit ko sya sa both of my babies, normal weight and height, up to 1.5years old.
Ang one-way stretchy wrap ay mas makapal ng kaunti. Ang one-way stretchy wraps are treated like "almost" woven wraps..dahil mas sturdy sya, but stretchable sya compared sa woven wraps.
Know that not all stretchy wraps are the same, so best na maging maingat tayo sa pag-"box" or pag-generalize nito.
If you want to know more about the nitty gritty parts of babywearing, and be able to share the knowledge and skills sa ibang moms and dada, sign up na sa online babywearing consultancy course ko this November :)

“Babywearing”..a term we often see in action but fail to recognize its meaning and appreciate its benefits not just to the worn babies, but also to the babywearers and the society we live in.
I started babywearing in 2016 – two weeks after my first child was born. I started using a stretchy wrap. It wasn’t all magic the first time I tried. My son cried incessantly, prolly because he felt the fear and anxiety in me as I am really not that sure and quite confident with what I’m doing. After 3 ‘sweat-full’ and tearful tries, son felt calm and I too, felt like an instant supermom.
Weeks passed, I found myself sewing babywearing gears, with the thought in mind that I will be able to share the all the wonderful benefits of babywearing in my community at an affordable price. As days went by, I saw a greater need for safe babywearing awareness, so I converted my selling/business FB group to Iloilo Babywearing Community, and with the help of other momfriends who are also strong babywearing advocates, we were able to come up and plan our first city-wide babywearing event: Aboy-Aboy Sa Dughan last 2017.
My love for babywearing didn’t stop with just mere posting of video tutes, co-planning babywearing events, doing talks and demos, sewing babywearing gears..in my heart and in my mind, I know I can do more in help spreading babywearing awareness. In mid-2018, I searched for babywearing consultancy trainings and stumbled upon School of Babywearing-UK’s. I enrolled and had my practical training at Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last April 26, 2019 under Victoria Ward’s supervision. It was a surreal experience for me as it was a great leap for me, doing something like this for the sake of advocacy, it was also my first time to travel internationally, and that I was able to see Malaysia (yes, it’s “Truly Asia”, a must-visit country with good people) with my husband and toddler in tow and oh-so pregnant at that time—all for the love of babywearing.
We were given a coursework to be submitted not later than October 28, 2019. Considering that I am about to give birth any time soon, I made it to a point that I will be able to submit my work before the deadline. Day and night, and even during the wee hours, I struggled to do our work and thankfully I was able to finish my requirements last July 3, 2019 and became with a Certified Babywearing Consultant on July 22, 2019 (the first and only, as of writing, and to my knowledge, here in the Visayas, and one of the few here in the Philippines).
*others may see this as bragging, but for me, emphasizing this means that there is really a great need here in our country—that we lack babywearing consultants who can (1) share science-based, updated knowledge on babywearing, (2) help us troubleshoot babywearing difficulties, (3) help us choose appropriate babywearing gears as all parents and babies are unique, with varied lifestyles, budget preferences, and some even have medical concerns that need to be dealt with accordingly.
I know I still have a long way to go, I still need to learn a lot of things and need more arms and might in order for me to reach out to more people and help spread safe and positive babywearing vibes. And I know that through our collective efforts as a whole, we babywearers, parents, medical professionals, advocates, enthusiasts as a society, we can make babywearing mainstream….again.
Babywearing is a healthy, practical life skill and we all deserve to learn and enjoy it.
