We are pleased to announce the availability of our new diagnostic panels:
1. Comprehensive Leukemia Panel
2. Basic Lymphoma Panel
(in addition to our existing Basic Leukemia Panel)

These panels aim to improve access to advanced cancer diagnostics in our region, supporting earlier diagnosis and better patient management.

Coming soon: Measurable Residual Disease (MRD) Panel, designed to assess treatment response, and predict relapse.

Basic Phlebotomy and Venipuncture Workshop

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of Western Visayas Medical Center cordially invites all WVMC employees to a one-day workshop designed to enhance core competencies in blood collection and venipuncture techniques. This hands-on training aims to reinforce safe, accurate, and patient-centered laboratory practices in line with current standards. This is also a CPD seminar for REGISTERED MEDICAL TECHNOLOGISTS only.

Workshop Highlights:
1. Core principles and standard protocols of phlebotomy
2. Proper patient identification, preparation, and positioning
3. Techniques for successful venipuncture and minimizing complications
4. Correct order of draw, specimen handling, and labeling
5. Infection control measures and post-procedure patient care

A historic chapter has begun — grounded in learning, service, and purpose.

Western Visayas Medical Center Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine proudly celebrated its partnership with the University of Perpetual Help System – Pueblo de Panay Campus, Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science Internship Program last July 29, 2025 when the two institutions had their 1st culminating activity.

As the University’s first hospital affiliation in Iloilo City, this collaboration marked not just a milestone, but the beginning of a legacy. Under the leadership of Dr. Ma. Bemerly P. Sira, MD, FPSP, Chief Pathologist, WVMC remains committed to shaping future medical laboratory professionals through quality training, compassion, and excellence.

University of Perpetual Help System – Pueblo de Panay Campus, in return, extended its heartfelt gratitude for the mentorship, guidance, and unwavering support given by the WVMC team throughout the internship journey of the first batch of interns.

Western Visayas Medical Center believes that this is more than a partnership — it is a relationship grounded on a shared vision that will continue to inspire the Medical Laboratory Science Interns for years to come.
