During the Municipal Advocacy of Kabuntalan Youth Champions led by Alnhor Melocoton Raguia Azmylla Kamsa Unduka, Betty Salikula and Julaisa Eman the proponent of Kapya-Inged Project.

The three youth champs discussed the following;
🔹 Project proposal of Kapya-Inged where they proposed the said project to the LGU's of Kabuntalan spearhead by the Municipal Administration Engr. Efrel Midtimbang together with the MPDO Engr. Danda Ayob and the Secondary School Principal of KNHS Ms. Kungan Sangki, PhD.

🔹 Advocacy Storyboard where they presented their advocacy plan through Media Production which is supported by the Panel

🔹 Drafted Policy on Solid Waste Management, the MPDO extend his suggestion that the drafted policy cannot push through since the Municipality of Mother Kabuntalan doesn't have Sanitary Landfill that can cater solid waste. With this concern, the Youth champions need to revise their Policy Brief.

Those 3 proposal where some of the objective of BATA on CCA project that encourages and supports youth-Led initiatives from the grassroots level of three areas of BARMM region.

Looy, South Upi para sa kanilang proyektong Promoting Youth-led Climate and Innovation in BARMM: Bright, Adaptive and Transformative Actions (BATA) on Climate Change and Adaptation Programme.

At para sumali at manalo ng Load Promo, sundin lamang ang mga sumusunod:

1. I-follow ang page ng Bangsamoro Youth Commission at ng Bangsamoro Media Productions.
2. I-share ang live episode ng programang ito.
3. Panoorin lamang ang live episode, abangan ang mga katanungang aming ibibigay, at sagutin ito ng tama at kumpleto.

UNICEF Philippines together with KOICA had an interactive Focused Group Discussion Activity with the Youth from Kabuntalan with a tittle "Supporting Peacebuilding through Strengthening Essential Services for Vilnerable Children and Adolescents in Maguindanao and Cotabato City, BARMM"

The said activity invited different sectors of Youth such as, In-School Youth, Out of School Youth, Sangguniang Kabataan, Youth with Disability, Youth Leaders and such.

The aim of the activity is to capture the risk and challenges faces by adolescent-youth in their respective communities, the Kabuntalan Youth Champions of BATA on CCA also participate in this activity.

❗Youth leaders from Cotabato City, Kabuntalan, and South Upi are now more determined to lobby their advocacies and claim their space in their respective local climate governance.

✋ Through workshops and training sessions, youth leaders of the BATA on CCA project were coached on creating policy briefs to capture and organize their proposed solutions to the gaps and challenges in their communities.

With the support of UNICEF Philippines, the BATA on CCA project became an instrument to help these fiery youth leaders rethink their understanding of inclusive climate change advocacy, provide a platform to sharpen the skills and knowledge they already have, and introduce means to actualize their ideas. The training sessions ignited the passion that the youth leaders already had.

➡️ For the next step, the youth leaders will present their proposals to their respective local government units. Through the Bright, Adaptive, and Transformative Actions on Climate Change and Adaptation Programme (BATA on CCA), the youth leaders from Cotabato City, Kabuntalan, and South Upi aim to develop evidence-based advocacy on climate actions and to enable meaningful youth participation, particularly on climate change governance.

Coaching | April 5-8, 2024
Last April, three Youth Champions from Kabuntalan invited to be part of BATA on CCA Coaching Sessions Activity.

This coaching session demonstrate how to identify policy gaps and design advocacy strategies for climate adaptation that work to fill the gaps. It will include a workshop where the youth representatives will be coached on how to write a policy brief addressing the key issues they have identified during their Youth-led training. It covers how to identify key target audiences and highlights different tactics advocates can use to influence these audiences.

Capacity Development Training of BATA on CCA

A total of 30 participants from the areas of South Upi, Mother Kabuntalan and Cotabato City have undergone a training-workshop activity relating to Climate Change Adaptation. The said 3-days activity aims to capacitate the Youth representative and encourage them to advocate and take action on Climate Change.

Also, 10 representative from Mother Kabuntalan freely express their ideas during the workshop activity.

📌 Cotabato City

30 youth leaders from Cotabato City, Kabuntalan, and South Upi have increased their capacity to advocate climate actions in their respective organizations and municipalities.

The youth participants have identified solid waste management and flooding as the major problems that people face in their community. According to them, these issues pose a threat to food and water security, shelter, and livelihood of the people, especially those living in high-risk areas.

Through a workshop, the youth leaders realized that they have the power to claim their space, and to push forward issues that matter to them; that they have the right to participate and recommend solutions; and that they have their roles to play in advocating for changes in their community, particularly on disaster risk reduction and climate change.

As the next generation of leaders and trailblazers in their communities, they must become aware of the different issues their generation might continue to face if they do not challenge the system and advocate for change.

The youth leaders from Cotabato City, Kabuntalan, and South Upi will receive support from UNICEF Philippines, the Bright, Adaptive, and Transformative Actions on Climate Change and Adaptation Programme (BATA on CCA), in their journey of developing evidence-based advocacy on climate actions.

Community Consultation FGD

Look! Last February 21, 2024 Humanity and Inclusion (HI) facilitated their Community Consultation - Focused Group Discussion on Bright Adaptive and Transformative Action on Climate Change Adaptation or BATA on CCA. The aim of this FGD is to capture the existing initiatives of Youth Leaders from Municipality of Kabuntalan. The said activity was attended by existing Local Youth organization, Sangguniang Kabataan, School Base organization, and other existing Youth Led Initiative from Kabuntalan.
