The first image shows a large curve being managed with CMP brace. Not all curves are suitable for bracing and at times, surgery would be the most viable option.

In this case, the parents of the child and their healthcare professional decided to opt for a non-surgical approach to allow the child to achieve skeletal maturity prior to surgery.

We were pleased with the encouraging outcome.

Current guidelines recommend brace treatment for Adolescent Idiopathic patients with curves from 20˚ to 40˚ with no specific guidance for brace treatment of Juvenile Idiopathic Scoliosis patients.

Currently, there is limited evidence for the treatment of larger curves.

Patients in this study (second image) were treated with the Postural Over-correcting CMP brace.

Results suggest that positive outcomes are possible with postural over-correction brace treatment of larger curves over 40˚ Cobb’s Angle.

Research has shown that addressing spinal curvature in its early stages is critical to successful scoliosis treatment.

Research by Coillard et al. revealed the effectiveness of the SpineCor Soft Dynamic Brace, especially on curves between 15° and 24°.

Between 1993 and 2007, 615 patients received treatment with the SpineCor brace, and of these, 123 patients completed treatment.

The results showed that 88.6% of patients achieved treatment success with correction or stabilisation.

The SpineCor brace has even been shown to be more effective when applied early.

In a recent presentation at the British Scoliosis Society, it was discovered that there are over 100+ brace designs available today.

The most surprising thing is that only a few have published In Brace Correction (IBC) data, even though IBC is the main predictor of treatment outcome.

Eight previous studies showed an average IBC of 48%. Meanwhile the average IBC for CMP Brace is 63% which far exceeds the published average of 48%.
