Neurology, a branch of medical science, is a study that concerns itself with the nervous system. π
While the brain (playing a vital role) is the usual main character in this discussion, the scope of very well goes beyond this point. Let's take a look at a not-too-common basic lens under this topic in this month's infographic series entitled "Neurology Fundamentals" highlighting other areas involved in its study.

#01 of 03 - CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM
***************************************************
The first and major system on the subject matter is the central nervous system (CNS) whose 3 main components are the brain, spinal cord, and neurons.
Its broad functions are to generally take in sensory information from the nervous system, process information, and send out motor signals to coordinate the body's response.π§
As much as the brain controls many of the functions of the body, including movement, thought, learning, and awareness, it is the which carries information to and from the various parts of the body.
Completing the trio is the building blocks of the CNS - the . Numbering more than 100 billions, these nerve cells are found throughout the body completing the above-mentioned functions.
Finally, the whole is protected by a number of physical structures such as the skulla and spinal vertebrae. It is also worthwhile to note that meninges and cerebrospinal fluid also protects the CNS.
Medical conditions that can affect the CNS include stroke, trauma, tumors, and degenerative diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, among others.
