Are you familiar with Cystic Fibrosis (CF)? π
A common diagnosis among infants and children, CF is a genetic disorder that affects the lungs, digestive system, and other organs; passed down through the family line. It is characterized by the production of thick, sticky mucus that can lead to breathing difficulties and frequent infections, as well as problems with digestion and nutrient absorption.π« π§ͺ
This possibly life-long disease means that the patient needs to adjust and maintain a lot of medication. It would really help if the disease can be detected earlier and undergo treatments. Though it may not exactly have a cure for now, testing would be a great help to identify if one has it.
Fortunately, newborns can get tested in the early days after childbirth.πΆ If there is a possibility of CF with your child, additional testing would also be done to confirm it.π©Ί
