Hybrid Vehicle Added to Support Cleaner, Safer Operations in the Philippines🚔

OCS has added a new hybrid vehicle to the Philippines fleet, supporting the shift toward lower-emission operations and the long-term plan to transition fully to hybrid vehicles by 2030.

The vehicle strengthens day-to-day work including site visits, operational checks, and customer coordination. It reduces fuel use and lowers emissions, helping improve air quality and supporting safer travel for colleagues across local communities.

This addition also supports our ongoing work to reduce environmental impact across operational activities.

Growing a Greener Future Together

We recently joined the Million Trees Foundation in Quezon City for a tree planting activity. Thirty saplings were planted by team members from the head office and site operations, contributing to the foundation’s efforts to expand green spaces across Metro Manila.

The activity centred on practical environmental work that supports cleaner air and healthier surroundings for nearby communities.

This forms part of our ongoing participation in community initiatives that create long-term benefits for colleagues, customers, and the wider public.

Spreading Joy and Hope last Halloween 👻

OCS volunteers joined Child Hope Philippines for a Halloween celebration that brought joy, color, and connection to the children they support. Through games, art, and shared laughter, the afternoon became more than just a festive event; it was a reminder of what kindness and community can create together.

As part of the activity, the children expressed their Christmas wishes, from new shoes to hopes for a better future, each one reflecting their optimism and spirit. Older children joined in a cheerful “Pass the Message” game, and every participant went home with a bag of treats and a smile.

October began with OCS Philippines providing event support for the Twice Live in Manila concert last October 4. The team was deployed on-site to help ensure a safe and well-managed experience for attendees.

Before deployment, a safety briefing was conducted covering key areas such as crowd control, the nearest evacuation routes, scope of work for ticket validators, and the locations of water stations and first aid booths. Emergency contact details were also reviewed to ensure readiness for any situation.

Through preparation and coordination, the team reinforced OCS’s commitment to maintaining safe and efficient event operations.

We know that sometimes the most important conversations start with just three words: “R U ok?”

Before September came to a close, OCS Philippines came together on 26 September to mark R U OK? Day, shining a light on mental health and the power of simple conversations. Held at the OCS Training Room, the session guided employees on how to ask, “Are you okay?” with genuine intent, listen with care, and offer support when it’s needed most.

Guest speaker Mr. Christian Paul Pagal, Head of the Psychology Department at Rizal Technological University, shared thought-provoking insights on empathy and meaningful dialogue. Colleagues also joined in solidarity by adding a touch of yellow to their outfits: a visible reminder of our shared commitment to wellbeing.

September at OCS Philippines.

September was a full month for OCS Philippines, marked by activities that brought employees together to strengthen safety, celebrate milestones, and highlight well-being. The month concluded with the September Townhall and Bash held last Friday, September 26.

The program began with a safety talk on leadership in safety, underscoring the importance of individual responsibility in maintaining safe workplaces. Phil Carter delivered the welcome remarks, acknowledging the contributions of employees across different sites and introducing the month’s key activities. He also shared about R U OK? Day, an event focused on encouraging conversations around mental health and well-being. This session, held shortly after the bash, featured a guest speaker who provided insights on mental health awareness.

The townhall also welcomed new hires, giving them the opportunity to be formally introduced to the wider team. As part of OCS’s 125th anniversary celebration, the event highlighted the organization’s participation in the 125 Challenge, where employees contributed to achieving miles for charity through different physical activities. Three local teams were recognized for recording the highest mileage, demonstrating commitment to the initiative and its wider social impact.

An OCS True Star awardee was also recognized for demonstrating integrity and reliability by taking immediate action during challenging workplace conditions. The afternoon concluded with a celebration of September birthday celebrants and a shared meal with colleagues.

Fire Safety Seminar at OCS Philippines Headquarters

A fire safety seminar was conducted on Friday, September 19, attended by OCS Philippines ERT Team and headquarters employees. The session was facilitated by HSE Department in coordination with the Mandaluyong City Fire Bureau.

The seminar focused on fire prevention, appropriate response procedures, and the proper use of safety equipment. Employees actively participated in the discussions and activities, reinforcing collective awareness and preparedness for fire-related emergencies.

Employee Journey: 36 Years of Service

In May 1989, Jocelyn Baring began her career as a cleaner assigned to various projects. After nearly two decades in site operations, she moved to the office in 2008 and took on the role of Training Assistant. By 2016, she transitioned into the Human Resources Department as a Trainer, where she continues to serve today with OCS.

Over the years, she has built her career through consistent dedication and commitment. Supported by access to training and development programs, she has strengthened her skills and expanded her knowledge. These opportunities have enabled her to contribute directly to the growth of new employees by guiding them through training sessions and sharing her experience.

Her journey demonstrates the impact of long-term service, adaptability, and the value of continuous learning. With 36 years of experience, she continues to play an important role in supporting the development of people across the business.

✨ Minerva Caya – 31 years across finance, payroll, audit and legal support, always adapting to new challenges.
✨ Jocelyn Baring – 36 years, starting as a cleaner in 1989 and now training others in HR.
✨ Raul Garcia – 44 years as a housekeeper, showing daily loyalty and consistency to his team and our customers.
