Not all ways of knowing are equally reliable. We may believe something works because an expert says so, because many people agree, or because of our own personal experiences.

But Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) relies on science. Through careful observation, measurement, experimentation, and replication, ABA identifies the environmental factors that influence behavior and uses data to guide intervention. This ensures that the strategies used are effective, meaningful, and focused on improving independence and quality of life.

March 23 is World Behavior Analysis Day! 🌍
A day to recognize the science of behavior and the impact of evidence-based practices in helping individuals learn meaningful skills and live more independent lives.

Sleep challenges are common for many individuals with autism, and circadian rhythm differences may be one reason why.

Circadian rhythms are the body’s natural 24-hour internal clock that regulate sleep, hormone release, digestion, and body temperature. When this rhythm is disrupted, it can make falling asleep and staying asleep much harder.

Research has found that a large percentage of autistic children experience sleep disruptions, and some studies suggest genetic differences related to circadian rhythm regulation may play a role.

💙 Sleep matters for learning, behavior, health, and overall well-being.

Meet the BCBA who supervises my ABA services!

In Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), therapists should always work under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The BCBA is responsible for developing treatment plans, monitoring progress, and ensuring that therapy is implemented ethically and effectively.

For parents, it is always okay to ask:
✔ Is there a BCBA supervising the program?
✔ Is supervision documented in the child’s records?

These are important parts of ethical ABA practice and help ensure that your child receives safe, professional, and evidence-based support.

As a home-based ABA therapist, I make sure that the services I provide are guided by proper BCBA supervision so families can feel confident about the quality of care their child receives.

Hyperacusis is an increased sensitivity to sound that can make everyday noises feel overwhelming or even painful—especially for many autistic individuals.

Understanding sensory differences helps us respond with empathy and support. 💙
