Repost from Nursewithanna Wondering when to switch sides while breastfeeding? Here’s how to know when it’s time to move to the other breast! 👶💞

1. Watch for Baby’s Signs of Fullness on the First Side
Look for cues like slowing down in sucking or releasing the breast on their own. Try breast compression - this can help baby start suckling again. If baby doesn’t regain suckling - it’s a good sign they are done with this side. Overall, these are good signs that they’re ready to move on.
2. Check Your Breast Softness
Gently feel your breast. If it’s softer and less full, it’s likely that your baby has drained most of the milk from that side.
3. Look for Comfort Cues
Is your baby content or still looking for more? If they seem satisfied, switching might not be necessary. But if they’re still eager, try offering the other side.
4. Pay Attention to Your Own Comfort
Feeling full or uncomfortable in the other breast? That’s a great time to switch for your own comfort too!

Remember: It’s okay if your baby only takes one side sometimes! Every feeding is unique—follow your baby’s cues and enjoy the bonding time. 💖
