The Department of Health (DOH), represented by Undersecretary Nestor F. Santiago, together with Metro Manila Center for Health Development (MMCHD) Regional Director Rio L. Magpantay, yesterday met with the City Health Officers (CHOs) of each Local Government Units (LGUs) in the National Capital Region (NCR).
Discussions included updates on the number of Pertussis cases in the region, actions taken by the LGUs, assistance needed by every city in Metro Manila from the DOH, as well as the implementation of heightened surveillance and more aggressive routine immunization activities.
The visit of DOH officials to different regions aims to intensify the interventions on pertussis cases aligned with the Department's 8-point Action Agenda, particularly the "Pag-iwas sa sakit" and ensure that the country is taking the appropriate steps in combating pertussis dahil sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Buhay Mahalaga.

We are calling for Nominations for Representatives from Health Professional Organizations and Recognized Employee's Associations to the Central Ad Hoc Grievance Board (CAGB) and Regional Ad Hoc Grievance Boards (RAGB) for COVID-19 Benefits. The nominees must be:
1. A member of a national health professional organization for those applying for
CAGB, or must be a member of a local or local chapter health professional organization within the geographical area of jurisdiction of the respective CHD for those applying for RAGB;
2. A member in good standing and duly endorsed by the organization represented; and
3. Preferably with experience in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) or Conflict Resolution.
Submit the following requirements:
1. Letter of intent addressed to the Secretary of Health for CAGB, and to the Regional Director of their respective CHDs or to the Minister of Health in the case of BARMM
β€’ for RAGB;
2. Endorsement letter from organization being represented;
3. Curriculum vitae, with details on experience in ADR, if any;
4.. Board Resolution and Secretary's Certificate (or equivalent) specifically authorizing the representative for the purpose;
5. Certification from the organization that the representative has no derogatory record:
6. Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Certificate of Registration (for national organization) or Certificate of Creation of Local/Chapter for regional or local chapters) issued by the Department of Labor and Employment to the health professional organization or recognized employee's association.

The Department of Health (DOH), represented by Undersecretary Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire, joined the 2024 World Tuberculosis (TB) Day Celebration of The Medical City in Pasig City on March 25, 2024.
In her presentation, Undersecretary Vergeire discussed the current TB situation in the country and the direction that the DOH is undertaking to eliminate TB. The celebration aimed to encourage leadership, more effective and targeted investments, faster uptake of new recommendations, adoption of innovations, accelerated action, and multisectoral collaboration towards TB elimination.
This united campaign for Tuberculosis and Lung Health aligns with three of the DOH 8-Point Action Agenda: β€œLigtas, dekalidad, at mapagkalingang serbisyo”; β€œPag-iwas sa sakit”; and β€œGinhawa ng isip at damdamin".
DOH extends its thanks to the private sector, particularly the partnership between the public and private stakeholders, in supporting its initiatives in delivering quality and accessible healthcare to Filipinos. Undersecretary Vergeire also urged the private sector to help the government in bolstering databases for TB, particularly in the submission of updated, reliable, and accurate data and reports to help ensure that the country is taking the appropriate steps in combating TB dahil sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Buhay Mahalaga.

The Department of Health (DOH), represented by Undersecretary Maria Francia Miciano-Laxamana and Caraga Center for Health Development (CHD) Regional Director Dr. Cesar C. Cassion, marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair at the Caraga State University in Butuan City on March 22, 2024.
Speaker Martin Romualdez was present at the event, as were other distinguished personalities such as 1st District Representative Jose "Joboy" Aquino II, Butuan City Mayor Ronnie Vicente Lagnada, and Vice Mayor Lawrence Fortun. Also in attendance were Local Health Support Division (LHSD) Chief, Dr. Sandria C. Yu, Dr. Dioharra L. Aparri, Dr. Agnes L. Cullantes, and Ms. Emmi Marie J. Cabahug, Head of the City DOH Office of Butuan.
In a gesture of goodwill, the DOH provided an extensive array of services, such as medical, family planning, nutrition, vaccination, health education, and minor surgeries. The Department also distributed 40 assistive devices, including wheelchairs, canes, walking aids, and blind sticks, totaling PhP 121,200.00, benefiting recipients from Butuan City and the municipalities of Agusan del Norte.
The Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair exemplifies a commendable initiative aimed at fostering a healthier society that addresses the needs of its constituents. Aligned with the DOH's 8-point Action Agenda, particularly the "Bawat Pilipino Ramdam ang Kalusugan," this endeavour champions equitable access to healthcare for all Filipinos, particularly those in underserved areas dahil sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Buhay Mahalaga.

The Department of Health (DOH), represented by Undersecretary Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire, joined the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines’ (CBCP) celebration of the 2024 World Tuberculosis (TB) Day Celebration held at the National Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help in Baclaran last March 23, 2024.
Highlighting the importance of a whole-of-system, whole-of-government, and whole of society approach in addressing TB, the CBCP pledged its commitment to fully support the programs of the government that aim to help eradicate tuberculosis in the Philippines.

ICYMI: The Bicol South Luzon - Sub National Reference Laboratory (BSL-SNRL) - Blood Center, pursuant to its commitment to ensure safe and adequate blood supply in Bicol, extends its help to other facilities outside the region by giving 480 blood units to the Philippine General Hospital (PGH).
The blood units were transported and endorsed by BSL-SNRL Blood Center staff, Mr. Aldren Cesar Mortega, Senior Health Program Officer, and Mr. Bienvinedo Paitim, Jr., Nurse II to PGH representatives, Dr. Ronell Basa, Resident Pathologist; Dr. Kristine Iraola-Davoco, Resident Pathologist; and Ms. Emma M. Abeleda, Medtech Supervisor of Blood Bank Unit.

Mariing pinapaalala ng Kagawaran ng Kalusugan (DOH) na mahalaga ang pangangalaga at pagpapalakas ng ating kalusugan bilang depensa laban sa mga sakit.
Mahalaga din ang wasto at responsableng pag-inom ng mga antibiotics upang maiwasan ang drug-resistant na impeksyon katulad ng DR-TB. Alamin ang mga paraan upang maiwasan ang DR-TB at iba pang uri ng drug-resistant infections.
