The Pax Romana – UST Nursing Unit has attended the Christian–Muslim Dialogue on Good Governance, an interreligious gathering grounded on the theme “Faith and Youth as Voices Against Corruption: Reclaiming Integrity in Governance.”
The keynote reflections deepened the call to ethical leadership despite the difference of religion.Rev. Fr. Rodel Aligan, O.P. from the Faculty of Theology spoke on “Reclaiming the Common Good: A Catholic Call for Ethical Governance,” reminding us that governance rooted in faith begins with moral responsibility. Prof. Julkipli Wadi, Dean of the UP Institute of Islamic Studies, offered insights on “Amanah and Good Governance,” highlighting Amanah as a sacred trust grounded in accountability to God. The gathering also featured a panel discussion spearheaded by youth leaders in the University, emphasizing the vital role of the youth in confronting corruption.
Listening to the reflections and discussions, we were reminded that Christians and Muslims are called to work together for the common good—guided by our shared spiritual, moral, and religious values. The Muslim concept of Amanah, a sacred trust rooted in accountability to God, echoed the message that genuine governance begins within one’s self.
As present student leaders and future nurses, we recognize that we are not just “leaders of tomorrow”—we are the “now” of society, as Pope Francis reminds us: “The youth are the now of God.” With this conviction, we commit to becoming agents of change, promoting integrity and refusing to normalize injustice. 🧠⌛️
Our delegation also participated in the signing of the Interreligious Youth Declaration on Corruption and Building Integrity in Governance, affirming that leadership is a service to others—not a pursuit of authority or power at the expense of the common good.
The Pax Romana – UST Nursing Unit stands with the Church’s mission: to be proactive, not reactive, in the fight against corruption. Silence allows injustice to grow unchecked. May our faith and our service inspire us to courageously uphold truth, accountability, and good governance for all.
