On October 16, 2024, the Department of Health (DOH), represented by Undersecretary Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire and Central Luzon Regional Director Corazon Flores, led the opening of the first Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Services (BUCAS) Center in the municipality of Rizal in Nueva Ecija.
Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center (PJGMRMC) Medical Center Chief Dr. Jose Ravinar Austria and Talavera General Hospital (TGH) Medical Center Chief Dr. Ma. Isabel Gallardo, PhilHealth Region 3-B Branch Manager Arlan Granali, Nueva Ecija Congressman Joseph Violago, as well as Rizal, Nueva Ecija Mayor Hanna Andres graced the occasion.
Among the services that will be offered by this facility are select ambulatory surgery cases, outpatient specialty clinics, ultrasound for pregnant women, etc.
β€œWe hope that this will serve as a catalyst in the pursuit of our shared goals and objectives in empowering every Filipino on our road towards a Bagong Pilipinas kung saan lahat ng Pilipino ay ramdam ang kalusugan. Sa iisang tunguhin, sama-sama nating itaguyod ang ating pangarap na Kalusugang Pangkalahatan,” said Undersecretary Singh-Vergeire.
This milestone fulfills the promise of one of the Department’s 8-Point Action Agenda β€” β€œBawat Pilipino Ramdam ang Kalusugan.”

The Department of Health (DOH), represented by Undersecretary Maria Francia Miciano-Laxamana and Caraga Center for Health Development (CHD) Regional Director Dr. Cesar C. Cassion, marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair at the Caraga State University in Butuan City on March 22, 2024.
Speaker Martin Romualdez was present at the event, as were other distinguished personalities such as 1st District Representative Jose "Joboy" Aquino II, Butuan City Mayor Ronnie Vicente Lagnada, and Vice Mayor Lawrence Fortun. Also in attendance were Local Health Support Division (LHSD) Chief, Dr. Sandria C. Yu, Dr. Dioharra L. Aparri, Dr. Agnes L. Cullantes, and Ms. Emmi Marie J. Cabahug, Head of the City DOH Office of Butuan.
In a gesture of goodwill, the DOH provided an extensive array of services, such as medical, family planning, nutrition, vaccination, health education, and minor surgeries. The Department also distributed 40 assistive devices, including wheelchairs, canes, walking aids, and blind sticks, totaling PhP 121,200.00, benefiting recipients from Butuan City and the municipalities of Agusan del Norte.
The Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair exemplifies a commendable initiative aimed at fostering a healthier society that addresses the needs of its constituents. Aligned with the DOH's 8-point Action Agenda, particularly the "Bawat Pilipino Ramdam ang Kalusugan," this endeavour champions equitable access to healthcare for all Filipinos, particularly those in underserved areas dahil sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Buhay Mahalaga.
