Hypertension is one of the leading causes of heart diseases, stroke, kidney disease and death worldwide.

With this, the group of Bicol University College of Medicine in Brgy. Buyo, Manito will be launching the "Alaga Laban sa Altrapresyon para sa Buyo" or ALAB. This program advocates better health through lifestyle modification practices and conducting awareness seminars which will be held tomorrow at the Peoples' Centrum, Manito, Albay.

Participants: BHW of Brgy. Buyo Manito

One of the main goals of this project is to achieve competence of the Barangay Health Workers (BHW) in proper acquisition of blood pressure. Their competence was established by this one-day seminar guided by excellent instructors, a module composed of comprehensive algorithm on how to screen patients and a return demo to showcase how much they have learned from the seminar. Each Barangay Health Workers were rewarded with a stethoscope and BP app along with certification that they have passed the training program.
