【Good News】 The Third International Oncology Ward Officially Opens, Enhancing the International Tumor Diagnosis and Treatment Service System

At 8 a.m. on March 6, the Third International Oncology Ward of our hospital was officially inaugurated. As one of the key international oncology wards, its establishment marks a significant step in the hospital’s strategic expansion from specialized treatment for single disease types to comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for a full range of oncology cases.

In his address, President Wang Huaizhong stated that the Third International Oncology Ward will focus on the diagnosis and treatment of head and neck tumors, integrating the latest global technologies and treatment approaches to establish a high-level therapeutic platform. He emphasized that treatment efficacy is the "minimum standard" for the ward, and on this basis, services must be complemented by humanistic care—respecting patients' cultural backgrounds and religious beliefs, addressing their psychological needs as they seek medical care away from home, and ensuring that medical excellence is accompanied by compassion.

As one of the most experienced teams in the hospital, the Third International Oncology Ward has long been dedicated to domestic oncology services, accumulating extensive clinical expertise. Representing the department, Director Dai Wenyan and Director Huang Zuoping outlined the core diagnostic and treatment framework of the ward: following the international CSCO guidelines, adopting a patient symptom-oriented approach, specializing in minimally invasive treatments, and establishing an integrated, holistic care model throughout the treatment process. The ward will implement personalized precision medicine with a "one patient, one plan" strategy. Additionally, guided by the "3H (HIM, Healing, Health)" core management philosophy, the ward aims to integrate medical technology with compassionate, human-centered care.

The opening of the Third International Oncology Ward represents another demonstration of our hospital’s commitment to a "patient-centered" approach. From specialized treatment for single disease types to comprehensive care for all oncology cases, from continuous advancements in medical technology to deepening international medical services—every step forward is taken to honor the trust of patients who travel great distances for treatment. As a premier platform for integrated minimally invasive oncology treatment, the Third International Oncology Ward of our hospital will always uphold the philosophy of "Healing Health," ensuring that the ultimate goal of medicine extends beyond physical recovery to encompass overall well-being.

🎗️ Misconception Debunked: Does Ovarian Cancer Always Require Laparotomy?

Many families are concerned about ovarian cancer surgery:
"Will a laparotomy be necessary? Will the incision be very large?" 😟
"How long will it take her to recover? The kids are waiting for her to come home..." 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

These concerns are ones we hear every day.

💡 Beyond traditional laparotomy surgery, we would like to inform you of another option: laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery.
Today, we want to make one thing clear: your body, your treatment choices, deserve to be taken seriously.✨

Beyond traditional laparotomy surgery, this is an option with less trauma and faster recovery.

Generally, traditional laparotomy surgery involves greater trauma and a heavier postoperative burden, with many patients taking about 1–2 months to return to a near-normal state. In contrast, laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery is typically performed through small incisions of about 0.5–1 cm, with postoperative hospital observation lasting about 3–7 days; most people resume daily activities within 1–2 weeks and gradually regain their strength within 2–6 weeks.

💬Professor Lin Jing wants to share this with everyone:
“You have the right to be informed of all options and make decisions after being fully informed. Treatment may not be easy, but you deserve to be taken seriously and receive more meticulous care throughout the process.”

Laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery can provide an option for patients who hope to minimize trauma, shorten hospital stays and recovery times, and return to daily life as soon as possible, provided that it is deemed feasible after assessment.✅

Want to know more? 🤔 We are always here to answer questions for you and your family. 💙

Misconception Debunked: Breast Cancer Means Breast Loss & Disfigurement?

When a breast cancer diagnosis is made, the first reaction of many families is, “Get it removed as soon as possible.”
We fully understand this mindset—because nothing is more important than her living a healthy life.

However, at our hospital, we also frequently hear voices like these:
“Doctor, is there any alternative besides a mastectomy?”
“She cares so much about her body. Is there a gentler approach?”

We want you to know that there is more than one treatment option.
Minimally invasive breast-conserving technology can completely remove the tumor while preserving the shape of the breast.
This is not a compromise; rather, it is another option offered by modern medicine.
✅ The same tumor removal efficacy
✅ Less trauma and faster recovery
✅ Preserving her confidence and dignity

Professor Dai Wenyan, head of the breast cancer specialist team, said:
“Many patients and their families are unaware of this option. Our responsibility is to inform them of this choice and then respect their decision.”
People suitable for minimally invasive breast-conserving technology:
• Patients who wish to preserve the shape of their breast
• Families concerned about surgical trauma
• Those who want to fully understand all treatment options before making a decision

If you or someone you love is facing such a dilemma, feel free to send a private message for consultation.
Learning about one more option may bring you greater peace of mind.

Recently, we received two heartfelt letters of gratitude from OLEIH, the daughter of Jenny, a Filipino patient with lung adenocarcinoma. In the letters, OLEIH especially expressed her sincere thanks to the two translators, Zoe and Kanthy. She wrote: "Thank you for always being friendly to the family and always accommodating the very many questions and requests."💝

From admission to the entire treatment process, Zoe and Kanthy listened attentively, patiently answered questions, and did their best to address every concern. Their support brought a sense of stability and trust to OLEIH and her family during a time of uncertainty and anxiety in a foreign country.🌍

These two handwritten thank-you letters are not only an affirmation of Zoe and Kanthy's personal dedication 🙏 but also a deeply meaningful gesture ✨. They reinforce our belief that medical care is not just about professional expertise—it is about connecting hearts ❤️ and providing compassionate support to help patients heal both physically and emotionally 🌟.

We thank OLEIH and her family for their trust 🤝 and for sharing their story, and we extend our gratitude to every colleague 👥 for their heartfelt efforts in their roles. Guangzhou Modern Cancer Hospital will continue striving to provide warm, high-quality medical services to more patients 🏥💪.

Healing Under the Full Moon: A Cross-Border Lantern Festival Celebration 🏮🌕

On the day of the Lantern Festival, as the first full moon of the new year illuminated the sky, Guangzhou Cancer Hospital hosted a special event for its international patients, bringing the warmth of Chinese traditions to those far from home 🏥❤️.

The venue was festively decorated with red lanterns 🏮, under which bilingual riddles attracted curious participants 🤔. A Russian patient 🇷🇺, after learning through translation that his guessed answer was correct, lit up with childlike delight 😊✨.

At the tangyuan station 🍡, the sweet aroma drew a crowd 👃. As staff explained that these glutinous rice balls symbolize a sweet and fulfilling year ahead 🥰, many patients eagerly tried their hand at making them. Despite the guidance, the results were often amusing—some produced oval shapes 🥚, others accidentally made giant rice dumplings 🍙—sparking laughter and camaraderie among participants 😂🤝.

Nearby, the pitch-pot game saw enthusiastic participation 🎯. One patient's successful throw drew cheers 🎉, highlighting the lighthearted joy of the moment 💫.
As the familiar melody of an old Chinese song filled the air 🎶, many joined in softly. In this warm atmosphere, the burdens of illness seemed momentarily lifted 🌈. The event embodied the hospital's “Healing Health” philosophy, bringing hope and love to illuminate the cancer journey 🎗️💖.
