As we approach National Pharmacy Week 2025 on December 8-12, the Philippine Pharmacists Association (PPhA) proudly invites the nation to celebrate the vital role of the pharmacy profession in building a healthier Philippines.

This year’s theme, “𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗰𝘆, 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲, 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗣𝗵𝗔: 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲,” reflects our collective mission to strengthen the country’s healthcare system through unity, service, and continuous advancement of the profession.

National Pharmacy Week is a yearly nationwide observance that highlights the contributions of pharmacists and the entire pharmacy workforce in ensuring safe, effective, and accessible healthcare for all Filipinos. It is a time to recognize the profession’s commitment to medication safety, patient-centered care, public health, and professional excellence across all practice areas.

Here’s to celebrating the profession that keeps our healthcare system moving forward. 💜🇵🇭

𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀: 𝗣𝗣𝗵𝗔 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗜𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴

The Philippine Pharmacists Association (PPhA) is preparing for its forthcoming application to once again serve as an accredited provider for the Training Program for Immunizing Pharmacists (TPIP)—a program designed to educate and train pharmacists in immunization. This reflects our unwavering commitment to advancing pharmacy practice and empowering pharmacists as vital partners in public health.

Since 2017, when PPhA first launched the Immunizing Pharmacists Certification Program (IPCP), we have continuously evolved to strengthen adult vaccine access and health equity nationwide. Through TPIP, we aim to equip pharmacists with the skills and knowledge to effectively administer adult vaccines and contribute to community health initiatives.

As part of this mission, on November 12–13, PPhA, led by its President, Dr. Aleth Therese L. Dacanay, hosted a Training of Trainers (TOT) program held at the PPhA Teaching-Learning Center to prepare our trainers with the latest teaching techniques and public health insights. We were honored to have Dr. Hoai-An Truong, PharmD, MPH, FNAP, FAPhA, an internationally recognized leader in immunization education, as our lead trainer. His expertise enriched the learning experience and strengthened our capacity-building efforts.

Together, we continue to significantly contribute to pharmacy advancement, vaccine confidence, and public health preparedness! 💉🇵🇭

Pharmacists as Community-Based Hypertension Management Specialists: Advancing Patient Care program is designed to advance the role of pharmacists as key providers in the community-based management of hypertension. As accessible healthcare professionals, pharmacists are uniquely positioned to contribute to early detection, patient education, treatment adherence, and ongoing management of high blood pressure—ultimately improving cardiovascular health outcomes at the population level. The program incorporates the most recent clinical guidelines from prominent local and international health authorities, including the 2024 European Society of Hypertension (ESH), the World Health Organization (WHO), the Joint National Committee (JNC 7 & 8), the American Heart Association (AHA), and the 2020 Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Management of Hypertension in the Philippines. By aligning with these evidence-based standards, the program ensures that pharmacists deliver up-to-date, safe, and effective hypertension care.
