Nutrition Month in the Philippines is an annual celebration dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of proper nutrition and its impact on overall health and well-being. It's a time to educate the public on healthy eating habits, promote food security, and address issues related to malnutrition.
Malnutrition, in its various forms (undernutrition, overnutrition, and micronutrient deficiencies), continues to be a significant problem in the Philippines, affecting both children and adults. Proper nutrition is essential for physical growth, cognitive development, disease prevention, and overall productivity. Nutrition Month provides a platform to disseminate vital information, debunk myths surrounding food and nutrition, and empower individuals to make informed dietary choices. While the specific theme changes annually, the core message remains consistent: to improve the nutrition status of Filipinos and promote a healthier nation. The theme acts as a guiding principle for the year's activities and campaigns, providing a focused approach to addressing prevalent nutritional challenges. This year's theme,FOOD AT NUTRITION SECURITY MAGING PRIORITY, SAPAT NA PAGKAIN KARAPATAN NATIN, invariably centers on the importance of access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food and the steps needed to achieve food and nutrition security. The emphasis is on collective action and community involvement in promoting healthy eating and ensuring that everyone has access to the nourishment they need to thrive.
With that, Barangay Health Station of Danao (BHW, NDP, PHM) with Barangay Kagawad, held a formal launch of Nutrition Month yesterday July 4, 2025. The event began with a motorcade and concluded with a nutrition pledge and prayer, signifying our community's commitment to food and nutrition security.
