This month, we come together to raise awareness, honor the millions of lives touched by breast cancer, and reaffirm our commitment to equitable access to care. The theme for 2025 is: “Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters.”
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women worldwide. In 2022, about 2.3 million women were diagnosed and 670,000 lost their lives. While survival rates can exceed 90% in high-income countries, they fall as low as 40% where access to early detection and treatment is limited. If trends continue, incidence and mortality may rise by 40% by 2050, highlighting the urgent need for global action (WHO, 2025).
✨ Take charge of your health through breast self-awareness. A breast self-exam helps you become familiar with how your breasts normally look and feel, making it easier to notice changes such as lumps, skin dimpling, or discharge (NBCF Team, 2025). Report any new findings to your healthcare provider right away. But remember — self-exams are not a substitute for regular mammograms and clinical breast exams.
💗 At GAIA, our trusted OB-GYN doctors are here to support you with expert guidance, screening, and compassionate care. Your story and your health truly matter.
