National Dental Health Month : Oral Health Month CY 2024 PART 1

DID YOU KNOW that President GLORIA MACAPAGAL-ARROYO, declared the month of February of every year as National Dental Health Month
This supersedes Proclamation No. 235, series of 1951

The Dental profession plays a vital role in the maintenance of a healthy citizenry and the Philippine Dental Association since then has lived up with its share to propagate the value of oral/dental health to the people during the traditional month-long celebration

In 2020, the WHO released their Oral Health Country Profile for the Philippines and divided the report into four categories:
Oral Disease Burden
Risk Factor for Oral Disease
Economic Impact
National Health System Response

Under the PNP Health Service, the PNP Dental Officer is under the Dental Division (DD) that is currently headed by PCOL JOSE V SALES JR

DENTAL DEVISION, PNP Health Service:
Mission: To provide timely, comprehensive and quality health services to PNP personnel, their dependents, and authorized civilians
Vision: A modern Health Service rendering optimum health care at par with other well-known Health institutions in Asia by 2026

Functions:
Advise the Director on matters pertaining to dental health status of PNP personnel;
Supervise and implement approved plans, policies and programs pertaining to dental activities/care of the PNP;
Recommend to the Director, HS the assignments, transfer, promotions and training of Dental personnel;
Conduct periodic staff visit and inspection to all PNP Dental offices;
Prepare plans and policies on matters pertaining to career development and management of dental personnel;
Assist in the evaluation and revision of policies and standards of dental procedures and regulations to meet the changing needs of clients;
Assist in the determination of quality and quantity resources for programming of dental services; and
Perform other duties as directed by the D, HS
