The common clinical manifestation of Influenza is high grade fever of 5-7 days, irritating cough and colds for 2 weeks to a month. Some of them requring hospitalization, some progressing to pneumonia. We know that Influenza is no joke.
My son went home 2 days ago with high grade fever which lasted 24 hours or less. Today, he feels 97% well and just have colds. No cough yet. He was vaccinated with Flu Vaccine 2025 last July.

His swab test showed Influenza A. Since he is vaccinated, it seems like he is on his way to recovery sooner than expected.

Have you and your child vaccinated
It is worth it.

More people are getting sick with flu-like symptoms as the rainy season continues, private hospitals reported.

According to Dr. Jose Rene de Grano, president of the Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines Inc. (PHAPI), many hospitals are already “mostly full” because of viral infections common during this time of year.

He noted a 10% increase in admitted patients, with children making up most of the cases. Adults with mild flu-like symptoms usually don’t need hospital confinement.

Doctors classify these cases under Systemic Viral Infection (SVI). Symptoms include fever, body aches, fatigue, headaches, cough, and colds. Children admitted usually stay in the hospital for at least 4 days, but it can be longer if there are complications like pneumonia.

OpinYonistas, how are you coping this season?

Persistent flooding results to leptospirosis and disaster-related public health emergencies. The misuse of funds intended for flood control, and other forms of corruption, ultimately has an effect in public health. AIHO is with the nation in today's collective action to call out improper use of public funds, to call for accountability, and to demand actions to prevent it in the future.

Oh, you think breastfeeding in public is gross? Cute. Meanwhile, I’m over here keeping a whole human alive with my body. If you don’t like it, look away, scroll faster, or invest in some blinders. I’m not here to make you comfortable. I’m here to feed my baby. Period. My baby, my b***s, my choice.
