[FRAUD & PREDATORY RESEARCH]
Whether you're a healthcare worker, a medical student, or an ordinary citizen, it pays to be at least aware that dubious research publications and papers exist. These promote pseudoscience as well as the growing confusion & distrust from actual science & experts. However, the metrics in use are not fool-proof.
A rule of thumb is that a single research study radically deviating from the general knowledge & guidelines is not enough to change practice. Although, medical reversals do happen when high-quality pieces of evidence eventually change the previous knowledge or practices.
