Amoebas are single-celled organisms, some species of which can infect the human body and cause various health issues. The most well-known amoeba that affects humans is Entamoeba histolytica, which causes a disease called amoebiasis.

Amoebas typically enter the human body through the ingestion of contaminated food or water. This contamination often occurs when f***s from an infected person, containing the amoeba's cyst form, come into contact with food or water supplies. Poor sanitation and hygiene practices are major contributors to the spread of these infections.

You’re out here crying over a text back, but inside your veins, you have billions of soldiers who would literally explode to keep you safe. 🥺

Your Neutrophils? They rush into danger on a su***de mission just to stop a paper cut from getting infected.
Your Macrophages? They don't just fight for you; they devour your enemies whole so you never have to feel pain.
Your Memory B Cells? They hold onto a grudge against every germ you’ve ever met... just so they can protect you better next time.

They don't ghost. They don't cheat. They fight until their very last breath just because you exist.

So if you feel lonely this Valentine’s Day, remember: You are the love of your life. Quite literally.

A standard kitchen sponge is often described as a "bacteria hotel" because its porous, moist structure provides the perfect environment for microscopic life to thrive. While it is designed to clean, a used sponge can actually house billions of bacteria, including species like E. coli or Salmonella, trapped within its internal fibers.

To maintain a healthy kitchen, it is critical not to ignore the state of your sponge:

The Problem: Sponges absorb organic food particles and stay damp, allowing bacterial colonies to grow rapidly.

The Effect: Using a contaminated sponge can spread pathogens across "clean" surfaces and dishes, increasing the risk of cross-contamination.

The Fix: You can sanitize a wet sponge by microwaving it for one to two minutes or by soaking it in boiling water to kill the majority of active bacteria.

The bacteria is Leptospira, the corkscrew-shaped pathogen responsible for Leptospirosis. This bacterium is typically transmitted to humans through direct contact with the urine of infected animals, most notably rats, or through water and soil contaminated by such urine.

These spiral-shaped bacteria can enter the human body through mucous membranes or minor abrasions and cuts in the skin.

Active Invasion: As seen in the animation, the bacteria use their unique spiral shape and motility to drill through tissues.

Once they bypass the skin barrier, they quickly enter the bloodstream to spread throughout the body, potentially affecting the liver, kidneys, and other vital organs.

Proactive measures, such as maintaining a clean environment and using protective barriers in potentially contaminated areas, are essential for prevention.

Think twice before you slap. In this "Unseen World" deep dive, we reveal the microscopic "Hydraulic Hammer" effect that occurs when you swat a feeding mosquito—and why it’s a biological gamble you don't want to take.

The Body:
Most people think a mosquito bite is just an itch. But beneath the surface, a high-pressure exchange called pre-diuresis is happening. In this video, we go under the microscope to show:

Why mosquitoes "p**p" while they eat (The Science of Pre-Diuresis).

The "Backflow" Risk: How swatting can inject gut pathogens directly into your bloodstream.

The "Unseen" parasites like Chagas and the bacteria lurking in the insect's abdomen.

The safe way to remove a mosquito without risking infection.
