Project SPIKE
(Sports Promotion for the Improvement of Kid’s Education)

Youth sports provide the students the means to strengthen their mind and body. We at Project SPIKE believe that youth sports can enhance the health and fitness of students. We believe that sports promote physical and mental well-being, self-esteem, leadership and teamwork, spirited competition, fairness and respect, and camaraderie and goodwill among students. Project SPIKE aims to encourage and increase youth participation in sports, recreation and fitness activities, with the hopes that this program will:
• improve academic performance and concentration;
• enhance creativity and memory;
• develop problem-solving abilities;
• promote social interaction and teamwork;
• develop talents;
• improve student retention;
• teach sportsmanship;
• provide leadership opportunity; and
• foster a sense of community and sense of belonging. With its formation, it was resolved to include all types of sports equipment, such as basketball, volleyball, sepak takraw and badminton. We are hoping that through this program, we can increase the number of participants in sports. This donation will open many new opportunities for these young athletes as well as develop the mechanics necessary to enhance their skills. This donation will enable them to participate in tournaments, which will broaden their discipline and character and will bring honor to their school. That is why, with the help of this program and the donations that we are giving out, we encourage and increase youth participation in sports, recreation and fitness activities. The Summer Kickball Clinic has come to an end, but not without action-packed games by the players from Siniloan who competed with YCS Kickball CLUB from Taguig.

The games were concluded with sportsmanship, camaraderie, new friends and amazing experiences!

YCS Kickball Club were generous enough to treat the kids together with their parents in Jollibee, for successfully completing the clinic.

Music was played and songs were sang to the completers, who all received their token and a certificate. Congratulations YCS Kickball CLUB and Siniloan Kickball Team!

Cheers to more home runs and kicking!

More players came in on our second day of Free Kickball Clinic!

The kickballers were first thought how the game is played, showed them a video of kickballers in action, gave them inspirational talks, then showed them how it is played in the field.

At the later part of the day, the players get to play the game themselves, competing with the rest of the kickballers both from the Junior and the Youngster divisions.

See you all on May 30, Wednesday, 1PM, as we close the event with more kicking and running!

Happy kicking!

It was an action-packed first day of Kickball Clinic at SES as participants showed their competitive selves as they learn the basics of Kickball through the help of YCS Kickball Club.

The event started with lectures about the rules of the game. These new learning were then applied on the field.

The participants were divided into two groups that became the competitors in the fun game.

At the end of the game, the girls team won over the boys team. The players shook hand as a symbol of good sportsmanship.

The Kickball Clinic will continue on for 2 more days. Next session is scheduled on May 27, Sunday. The last session is on May 30, Wednesday. Please see posters for details.

Please wear yellow on May 27 for the Siniloan participants.

Being the initial recipient of sporting materials from Project S.P.I.K.E, Antonio Adricula Sr. Memorial Elementary School (AAMES) is reaping the fruit of their efforts. The students fared better than ever before. Congratulations AAMES for the sporting goods. Cheers to better performance in the coming district, unit and division meets, and hopefully to the national games!

In preparation for the coming intramurals, students of Angela Ong Javier Memorial Elementary School (AOJMES), received sporting goods from Project S.P.I.K.E. This is after learning that students rely on alternatives to conduct their sports activities instead of using the real ones.

A stone instead of a real shot put? These students deserve better. Part of the items received by the school include shots (for shot put), javelins (for javelin throw) and discus (for discus throw) along with basketball, volleyball, sepak takraw, badminton, and so on.

With competitive mind and spirit, and the will to win despite lacking resources, the students are lined up for victory one can ever imagine.
