We sing it so easily.
“ANG MAMATAY NANG DAHIL SA'YO.”
But when tensions rise… when conflict feels possible… suddenly we whisper the anthem instead of sing it.
Let’s be honest. We are afraid.
But do you think the heroes before us were fearless? Do you think they didn’t tremble?
They were human. They were scared.
They just loved the Philippines more than their fear. Patriotism is not loud until it becomes inconvenient. It is not brave only when it is safe.
You don’t have to crave death to love your country. But you cannot claim love for it if you are only willing to enjoy its freedom and never defend it.
Because there will come a time
when your children, and even your great-grandchildren will ask you about this moment.
When the nation was uncertain…
When conflict felt possible…
When courage was needed…
They will ask:
“What did you do?”
“Where did you stand?”
And on that day,
fear will no longer matter.
Only your answer will.
Mahal ko ang Pilipinas.
Not just when it is peaceful.
But especially when it is tested. 🇵🇭
