Do you know what amniotic fluid (the waters) is actually made from?

In the early weeks of pregnancy, the amniotic fluid is mostly water that comes from your body. After about 20 weeks of pregnancy, your baby’s urine makes up most of the fluid. Yep, they are floating in their own p*e essentially.

But amniotic fluid also contains nutrients, hormones (chemicals made by the body) and antibodies (cells in the body that fight off infection).

At full term, most uncomplicated pregnancies have around 800mls of amniotic fluid! Which is an impressive amount. Some women may have more than normal and some less, more on that later!
