LTO Administrative Order AHS-2008-015 explicitly states the “one lane per one vehicle only” rule for all vehicles, including motorcycles. Other laws like RA 4136 further emphasizes lane integrity with lane discipline as in overtaking, turning and vehicle positioning on the road.

So, to order motorcycles to bunch together in a single motorcycle lane with one vehicle lane per multiple motorcycles side by side is ordering riders to break the law. It is not protected by the law because the spirit and wisdom of AHS-2008-015 is to protect vehicles from hitting each other on their sides. In motorcycles, this collision will mean death or injury to a rider who will lose balance and fall in the pavement.

Motorcycle Lanes causing more traffic congestion is another story.

These, unless there is new legislation to undo this rule on “one lane per one vehicle only”.

Ang LTO Administrative Order AHS-2008-015 ay tahasang nagtatakda ng patakaran na “isang linya para sa isang sasakyan lamang,” kabilang ang mga motorsiklo. Pinalalakas ito ng iba pang batas tulad ng RA 4136 na nagbibigay-diin sa integridad ng linya sa pamamagitan ng disiplina sa pag-overtake, pagliko, at tamang pwesto ng sasakyan sa kalsada.

Kaya’t ang pag-uutos na pagtipunin ang mga motorsiklo sa iisang motorcycle lane, kung saan maraming motorsiklo ang magkakatabi sa isang linya, ay katumbas ng pag-uutos sa mga rider na labagin ang batas. Hindi ito sinusuportahan ng batas, sapagkat ang diwa at layunin ng AHS-2008-015 ay ang pagprotekta sa mga sasakyan laban sa banggaan sa tagiliran. Para sa mga motorsiklo, ang ganitong banggaan ay maaaring magdulot ng kamatayan o matinding pinsala, dahil ang rider ay maaaring mawalan ng balanse at bumagsak sa kalsada.

Iba naman ang usapin ng motorcycle lanes na sanhi ng mas matinding pagsisikip ng trapiko.

Ang lahat ng ito ay mananatiling totoo hangga’t walang bagong batas na pumapawalang-bisa sa panuntunang “isang linya para sa isang sasakyan lamang.”
