The Rural Health Unit of Palimbang has released an advisory regarding one (1) reported, yet unconfirmed, vaccine-related death. We deeply mourn the tragic passing of a 2-year-old female child in our province on February 4, 2026. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this incredibly difficult time.
While the childโs mother has expressed concerns regarding a possible link to the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccine, we emphasize that no definitive cause of death has been established at this time. The Regional, Provincial, and Municipal Epidemiology Units are currently conducting a thorough investigation in accordance with strict protocols to determine the circumstances surrounding this case.
The Provincial Health Office of Sultan Kudarat firmly stands that the MR vaccine is proven safe, effective, and has been used globally for decades to protect children from life-threatening diseases. Our ongoing MR-SIA campaign taking place from January 19 to February 13, 2026 continues to be a critical public health effort aimed at safeguarding the health of all children in our communities.
The Local Government Unit of Palimbang has extended financial and psychosocial support to the grieving family, ensuring they receive the care and assistance they need during this difficult period.
We respectfully urge the public to refrain from sharing unsubstantiated claims or speculation on social media, as misinformation may cause unnecessary fear and confusion. We encourage everyone to rely only on official updates from the Department of Health โ Center for Health Development, the Provincial Health Office of Sultan Kudarat, and your Local Government Units.
Let us stand together to protect and prioritize our childrenโs health. If your child is eligible and has not yet received the MR vaccine as part of the SIA campaign, please visit your nearest vaccination site to ensure their protection against measles and rubella, as these diseases continue to spread in the community.
