Quaid-e-Azam Medical College

Quaid-e-Azam Medical College Inaugurated on 2nd December 1971 by Governor Punjab Lt Gen Attique-ur-Rehman, the first principle was Prof Dr Nawab Muhammad Khan.

The grand new campus was completed by 1975. QAMC is affiliated for clinical training to Bahawal Victoria Hospital.

Quaid-e-Azam Medical College is affiliated for clinical training with Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH), with bed strength of 2145.
In 1867, Lord Viscount Wavell, the then viceroy of India inaugurated it as a Civil Hospital with an indoor capacity of 36 beds, an outdoor department, a dispensary and an operation theatre.
In 1906, it was named Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH) after the then Queen of England; some new buildings were constructed and 40 beds were also added. In 1950 the specialities of Surgery, Medicine, Radiology, Gynecology, Pathology and Ophthalmology were established. A nursing school was added in 1952.
Classes leading to L.S.M.F. were started here in 1956. Since its affiliation with Quaid-e-Azam Medical College in 1971, this hospital has turned over a new leaf and has developed by leaps and bounds. In 1971 the bed strength was 425. Today BVH can proudly be termed as one of the best and largest health institutions of Bahawalpur and South Punjab.
