Disc dehydration basically means the spinal discs are losing water → less shock-absorption → more pain and stiffness. The big causes are a mix of mechanical, lifestyle, nutritional, and biological factors:

• With age, discs naturally lose proteoglycans (water-binding molecules)
• Reduced disc height and elasticity
• Starts as early as late 20s–30s if lifestyle stress is high
