I have often heard these remedies being referred to as the ABC remedies, and are some of the most used of any homeopathy kit.
A couple of days ago, after picking the kids up from school, Mr 8 said his ear was sore. By the time we got home, he was crying in pain! The outer ear was red so I immediately went to Belladonna and a heat pack. This failed to settle him so I went and checked my reference book. I quickly realised Aconite was more appropriate because it came on suddenly and there was an element of hysteria/shock that accompanied the pain. He settled very quickly and it wasn't until a while later he said his ear was still sore. I then looked at chamomilla which is indicated for 'stabbing or tearing pains'. This resonated with him, so I gave him a dose. This made him comfortable enough to fall asleep on the couch for a couple of hours. When he woke, he had a bath, ate some dinner (and drank some bone broth of course ;) ) and went back to bed, saying his ear was no longer sore. I didn't give him any more remedies until the early hours of the morning when he woke coughing. We haven't heard anything further about the ear! I am SO relieved because I am always worried when it comes to earaches. They stress me out and I always endeavour to settled them as quickly as possible.
