Fat doesn't trigger any hormone that cause fat storage. Protein has fewer calories than fat but actually trigger fat burning hormones, if not consumed in large amounts. However, carbohydrates with the same value of calorie as protein, will create biggest effect on fat storing hormones, making you fat. The biggest fat making hormone is called insulin.
