Lichen Pla**s is a common condition that causes inflammation (swelling and irritation) in the skin or inside the mouth.

On the skin, it appears as purplish, itchy flat rashes rash. Inside the mouth, lichen pla**s may form lacy white patches, sometimes with painful sores.

These lesions are not contagious.

Sjogren's Syndrome is a disorder of the immune system identified by its two most common symptoms — dry eyes and dry mouth.

After much response, we're finally back with our series on Systemic Diseases and their Oral Manifestations!

Today we look at Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), which is a digestive disorder that occurs when stomach acid, food, and fluids flow back into the tube connecting your mouth and stomach (esophagus). This backwash can irritate the lining of your esophagus.

Although many people may experience mild acid reflux from time to time, it becomes medically significant when the patient presents with complaints on a weekly or semiweekly basis.
